Obituary of Kenneth Joe Chambliss

Funeral services for Kenneth Joe Chambliss, 80, of Cumby, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Cumby United Methodist Church with Rev. Duncan Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Cumby Cemetery with Asa Bloyed, Shawn Bloyed, Steve Smith, Johnny Carter, Mike Cross, and Danny Reichle serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Vaughan, Ryan Vaughan, Shane Gilbert, Lane Gilbert, Josh Weatherbee, and Larry White. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Kenneth passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Dallas, TX. He was born on March 8, 1933 in Pittsburg, TX the son of Leonard and Josephine Crane Chambliss. He married Betty Cross on December 22, 1955 in Cumby, TX. She survives. Kenneth was the high school principal of Lone Oak for 20 years. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by daughter, Vicky France and husband Martin of Cumby, brothers, Billy Chambliss and wife Sharon of Seagoville, TX, Wayne Chambliss and wife Sherry of Cuero, TX, Jerry Chambliss and wife Pat of Dangerfield, TX, grandson, Christopher Gilbert of Cumby, great-grandchildren, Shane Gilbert, Lane Gilbert, Wade Gilbert, Kyleigh Tadlock, Brantley Tadlock, Jade France, and Tommy Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cumby United Methodist Church, 204 East Main Street, Cumby, TX 75433.
