Obituary of Retha O'Shield

Funeral service for Retha Rankin O’Shield, age 55, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Tiemeyer officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with John Michael Howard, Cody Kalb, Dalton Machac, Ethan Machac, Tim Scarborough and Justin Smiddy serving as pallbearers. Visitation will from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mrs. O’Shield passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. O’Shield was born on January 10, 1957 in Wichita Falls, TX, the daughter of Jimmie Houston and Jaqulee (Bishop) Cargal. She married Morris Rankin in Irving, TX, on February 17, 1980 and he preceded her in death in 1999. She married Charley O’Shield in Eureka Springs, AR, on September 27, 2002 and he preceded her in death in 2011. Mrs. O’Shield worked in the cafeteria at Como-Pickton ISD. She lived a long good life, was very caring, even in her final hours, she put everyone else first. She was affectionately known as “The Rock”. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Rankin of Sulphur Springs, sons, Scotty O’Shield and wife Janet and Donny O’Shield and wife Chrystie all of Mineral Wells, TX, sister, Reba Harvey and husband Keith of Brashear, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Donald Wayne Cargal and sister, Beverley Burnett. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
