Obituary of Evelyn Rose Harris
Evelyn Rose Harris, age 79 of Sulphur Springs, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. She was born to the late Arthur and Mattie Hall on February 14, 1939.
Evelyn was educated in Mount Sterling Schools in the East Caney community. She was united in matrimony to Roust T. Harris and seven children were born; Deborah Green (Leroy), R.T. Harris, Evelyn Turner (Ray), Janice Henley (Lester), Sharon Ayers (James), Frederick Harris, and Tracie Johnson (Anthony).
Evelyn worked at Lone Star Restaurant and Cannon Craft Company for many years. After the closure of Cannon Craft, she became a Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) and uncovered her passion for serving the elderly. She was employed by Sunny Springs Nursing and Rehab Center for 15 years. Due to her faithful service and caring spirit, the nursing facility administration, staff, and family members of residents elected to name the cognitive and memory impairment wing of the facility in her honor.
Evelyn is survived by six of her seven children; three sisters: Helen Wright, Margie Williams, and Patricia Vaughn (Benard); one brother, Bobby Joe Hall; 14 grandchildren: Deanita, Deteasha, Derrick, Raymond, Kenya, Chaster, Cedric, Brandon, Dyesha, Demorick, Tylan, Darielle, Frederick, and Anthony; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roust T., she was preceded in death by one son, R.T. Harris; five brothers: Billy, Fred, Lee, Richard, and Travis; and three sisters: Lena Faye, Virginia, and Annie Marie.
