Obituary of Bertha Dial

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bertha Ree Askew Dial will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Morning Chapel Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, TX with Rev. H. B. Montgomery officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow immediately after in the East Caney Cemetery with Larry Askew, Randy Ellis, Walter Fields, Benny Dial, Harold Berry, and Curtis Peoples serving as Pallbearers. The Honorary Pallbearers include C.C. Johnson, Juan Walker, Jackie Young, Charles Perry, Dennis Nash, Danny K. Vaughn and the Deacons of Morning Chapel Baptist Church. Bertha Ree Askew Dial, age 94, passed away Thursday evening December 19, 2013 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. Mrs. Dial was born on Sunday, October 12, 1919 in the East Caney Community, the daughter of Nathan and Ardaliah Clayton Askew. She accepted Christ at an early age. She married Abe Dial on March 14, 1941 in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Dial worked as Quality Inspector at Hollywood Brands, Leisure Lodge, Ramada Inn, etc. She worked with the culinary staff of the church and served on Usher Staff #2 faithfully for years until she couldnÂ’t. She was also a member of the Seasoned Saints. Survivors include: sons, Abe Dial Jr. and wife Janice of Kentucky, Marvin Dial and wife Clifford Ann of Sulphur Springs; daughters Bonnie Wade of Sulphur Springs, Freddie Hynson and husband Harold of Sulphur Springs, Barbara Evonne Dial of Sulphur Springs; sisters, Merlene Collins of Oakland, CA, Bobbie Nell Ellis of Sulphur Springs, Thelma Jo Askew of Fort Worth, TX; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dial was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Windell Dennis, Buddy Askew, Maurice Askew, Learvis Askew, Nathan Askew, N.D.
