Obituary of Dorothy Hinton
Funeral services for Dorothy Reed Hinton, age 85, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 22, 2013 at New Beginnings Fellowship Church with Bro. Larry Jordan officiating and Bro. Paul Pogue and Bro. Wilton McMorris assisting. Interment will follow at Arbala Cemetery with the grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Dorothy passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born on September 27, 1928 in the Beckham Community, the daughter of Asa Allen and Omie Ethel (Owens) Reed. She married Wayne Hinton on August 20, 1943 and he preceded her in death on December 20, 1994. Dorothy was affectionately called Mother Dorothy or Doe Doe by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others who loved her. Jesus, family, church family and friends were most important in her life. Dorothy and Wayne were instrumental in the founding of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church. She loved to travel with family and friends, was truly a helpmate to her husband Wayne in all things and will be truly missed. Survivors include son, Wayne Hinton, Jr. and wife Tammy; and daughters, Rita Wright and husband Roger, Charlotte Nelson and husband Steve, and Sharon Smith and husband Robert “Red” Smith, all of Sulphur Springs; sister-in-law, Bobbi Reed; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and many other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mitchell Reed, Marvin Reed, Clifford Reed, and Billy Reed; sisters, Nettie Gammill and Mary Beckham.
