Murry passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Hopkins House in Sulphur Springs.

Family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution be made to the League Street Church of Christ College Fund in Murry’s name.

Murry was born on October 4, 1931 in Sulphur Springs as an only child to Clifford and Ethel Froneberger.  At the age of 9, with the war in full swing, he moved with his parents to Oklahoma City where his Dad was hired to help build Tinker Airforce Base.  After a year in Oklahoma City, his family moved to Orange, Texas where his Dad helped in the shipyard.  It was there that Murry learned to be a salesman because he was able to buy bubble gum for a penny from the Airforce Base PX and sell it to other kids for a nickel a piece.  Later, in his sales career, he bought some mounted long horns from his Uncle Euless for $10 each and sold all of them to Stuckey’s for $40 each.   Murry always said he sold himself first before selling the product and he never met a stranger.  He retired from Liggett and Myers Tobacco in 1993 and started his new career of hanging out at the ball fields watching grandkids play all type of sports.

On August 8, 1952 he married Johnnie Mae Inman which started out as a blind date.  Johnnie had just graduated from High School and her parents were on a trip to South Texas to look for another teaching job when they decided to elope.  They drove to Oklahoma to get married, not realizing they needed a marriage license first.   They drove all the way back to Sulphur Springs procured the proper papers and then were married.

Murry is survived by three sons, David Froneberger and wife Patti of Carrollton, Doug Froneberger and wife Alison of China Springs, and Dan Froneberger and wife Kathy of Sulphur Springs.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Dee Hoelscher, Jeremy Froneberger, Don Bell, Kelly Shutt, Lisa Williamson, Alex and Michael Froneberger and Colten Froneberger and Lindsey Froneberger, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Murry and Johnnie were married for 63 years before Johnnie passed away in 2015.  There was never a day that Murry wouldn’t make a comment that would bring a smile to your face.  He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to brag about them.  Now, as his life has moved to Heaven he can now start retelling all those same stories. We’ll miss his laughter and joy for life.
