Obituary of Gary Dean Hancock

Funeral service for Gary Dean Hancock, 82, of Yantis, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2017 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shannon Hassell and Bro. Craig Vance officiating. Military graveside honors by Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at the Yantis Cemetery with Jamey Michael, Gary Michael, Shannon Adams, Joshua Hudson, Cheve Adams, Nathan Adams, Zach Adams and Kody Koon serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2017, at West Oaks Funeral Home. Gary passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Sunny Springs Nursing and Rehab. in Sulphur Springs. Gary was born on April 10, 1935 in Vivian, LA. the son of Eldred E. Hancock and Clara Minshew Hancock. Gary married Dorris Morgan on November 11, 1975 in Yantis. She survives.  Gary served in the United States Navy.  He was a member of the Yantis Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge & Shriners. Gary worked as a supervisor at Amoco and BP for over thirty years. Along with his wife, Gary is survived by son, Charles “Butch” Adams and wife Beth of Sulphur Springs, daughters, Deana Graham of Andrews, Texas, Kay Hudson of Saltillo,  Brenda Taylor of Tyler, and 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Micheal Adams, and brother Kennon Hancock.  Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
