Obituary of Rose Evelyn Golden

On Sunday September 3, 2017 Heaven opened its gates and called one of its faithful servants home to be with the Lord. Evelyn “Girlfriend” Golden was born to Lank and Leona Lee Harrison on January 27, 1930 in the East Caney Community of Hopkins County. She attended public schools, graduating from Douglas High in 1949. Evelyn accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age, and she remained faithful member of Morning Chapel MCBC until her health failed. Evelyn worked as a cook and Chef at various restaurants from Kansas to Texas until retirement.


She is proceeded in death by both parents, husband Homer Ray Golden, 6 children, one brother, Cleon Harrison, 6 sisters, Katie Ford, Charlene Wright, Mary White, Lennis “Wimpy” Garrett, Fayola Harrison, and Johnny Gibson. Four special friends Doris “Betty” Yarbrough, Elizabeth Polk, Roberta Wright, and Evalena Holloman.


Evelyn is survived by two daughters Merita Wade and Anita Golden both of Sulphur Springs, Tx. One brother Archer Ben Harrison, 7 grandchildren Danny Wade Jr, Jaqueline Jackson (Cordell), Tina Wade, Adrian Golden, Ebony Wade, Patrick Golden (Charlena), LaQuanta Mass (Damion). 22 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
