Obituary of Earl Brown

Funeral services for Earl Wayne Brown, 74, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Stinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to service time. Military Graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Sulphur Bluff Cemetery with Russ Brown, Gregg Brown, Kevin Brown, Kelly Brown, Johnny Brewer, and Justin Brown serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Chance and Gene Tanton. Mr. Brown passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his residence. He was born on July 16, 1939 in Dallas, TX to Raymond Lewis and Francis Elizabeth (Minor) Brown. He married Doris Patterson on March 27, 1979 in Dallas, TX. She survives. During school he played football and was on the boxing team, where he received the Golden Glove Award. He later had a passion for Golf. He worked as a truck driver for Santa Fe over 19 years. He was a member of the Baptist Faith, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and also served in the Coast Guard for 8 years. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by sons, Russ Brown of Dallas, Gregg Brown of Forney, Kevin Brown and wife Alicia of Garland, Kelly Brown of Austin, daughters, Amy Brewer and husband Johnny of Canton, Amy Anderson of Choctaw, OK, Shennel Minor of Sulphur Springs, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gerald Crawford, and brothers, Delbert Brown, and Ray Brown. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
