Obituary of William Chamness
Funeral services for William Chamness, age 87, of Yantis, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shannon Hassell, Travis Aven and William McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow at Arbala Cemetery with Dwight Germer, Freddie Chamness, Allen Lynn Chamness, Josh Chamness, Chaisen Chamness and Gary Aven serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be William McDaniel and Travis Aven. Bill passed away Sunday, December 08, 2013 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. Bill was born on February 4, 1926 in the Arbala Community the son of William Fletcher and Willie Alma (Nichols) Chamness. He married Lottie Marie Owens on August 2, 1945 in Marietta, OK and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2013. After graduation Bill moved to the Dallas area for a few years and worked at the post office and also learned the building trade. Bill moved back to this area in 1950. He farmed, raised cattle and hauled milk. He bought land along hwy 154 in Yantis across from where he used to live and built his home in 1958 that he lived in all these years. Bill built homes and was also in the Dairy business. Bill also owned a trucking business . He is survived by his children, Carolyn Kay Burgert and husband Ronald of Dallas, Billy Mack Chamness and wife Sharon of Sulphur Springs and Vicki Germer and husband Dwight of Grand Prairie, grandchildren, Robby Chamness, Keisha Wilkinson, Chaisen Chamness, Tosha Michelle Bontrager and Zoe Germer, great-grandchildren, Olivia Chamness, Nicholas Chamness, Michael Chamness, Madeline Chamness, Isabella Chamness and Kade Bontrager. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Allen Ray Chamness, sisters, Pauline Aven and Ruby Lorene. Memorials may be made to the Arbala Cemetery Association, P. O.
