Obituary of Virginia LaRue Calhoun

Funeral services for Virginia LaRue Calhoun, age 81, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Stinson and Rev. Don Tinsley officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Eli Calhoun, Tyler Rhoades, Brennan Rhoades, Garrett Rhoades, Bo Bratton, Billy Bratton, Blake Talmage,Caleb Talmage and Trent Daniel serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Pettit, Mike Littlefield and Roman Watson. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mrs. Calhoun passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at Carriage House Manor. Mrs. Calhoun was born on January 5, 1932 in the Mahoney Community to James Charles and Ella (Anderson) Porter. She married Ray Calhoun on June 6, 1953 in Dallas, TX. He survives. Mrs. Calhoun worked for SSISD in the cafeteria for 10 years and was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church. In addition to her husband she is survived by sons, James Calhoun of Dike, Kenneth Calhoun and wife Charlotte of Mountainburg, AR, daughters, Janet Stevenson and husband David of Port Angeles, WA, Nita Rhoades and husband John of Sulphur Springs and Chris Talmage and husband Tim of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Leslie Littlefield, Eli Calhoun, Trent Daniel, Bo Bratton, Billy Bratton, Nikki Pettit, Jeni Lester, Kaila Point, Natasha Watson, Tyler Rhoades, Brennan Rhoades, Garrett Rhoades, Blake Talmage and Caleb Talmage, 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Arnold Porter, Albert Porter, Odis Porter and Travis Porter. Memorials may be made to Legacy Hospice at The Hope Foundation, 120 E.
