Obituary of Rev. Cullen Lacey

Funeral services for Rev. Cullen P. Lacey, age 87, of Cumby, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kurt Stratton officiating and Rev. Don Laughton assisting. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Monday, December 2, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Miller Grove Cemetery with sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Rev. Lacey passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Carriage House Manor. Rev. Lacey was born on August 9, 1926 in Hemphill, TX, the son of John David and Murtie (Waller) Lacey. He married Lorraine Marrian Nugent in Zavalla, TX. Rev. Lacey retired from Southwestern Bell after 37 years and went on to be an ordained minister in 1966, where he pastored several churches in East Texas. In addition to his wife he is survived by sons, Gary Lacey of Gainesville, GA, Tom Lacey and wife Nancy of McKinney, Daniel Lacey and wife Sabrina of Garland, Charles Lacey of McKinney, daughter, Carolyn Stratton and husband Rev. Kurt Stratton of Frisco, sister Mary Helen Brown of Ft. Worth, TX, 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Odis Lacey, Odel Lacey, Eugene Lacey, sisters, Lucille Beard and Ola Samsky.
