Obituary of Dannie Garrett

Funeral services for Dannie Garrett, age 72, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at South Liberty Cemetery with Rev. Robert Burns and Rev. Ronnie Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery with Ricky Ted Williams, Lance Williams, Mike Couch, Tim Potts, Randy Garrett, Rudy Garrett and Jim Potts serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Birchfield, Gary Williams, David Rawson, Junior Potts, Barry Smith, Manley Head and Wayne Allison. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to service time at the church. Dannie passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at his residence. He was born on September 20, 1944 in Sulphur Springs the son of Cleo R. Garrett and Christine Virginia Freeman Garrett. He married Judy Carol Wilson on August 7, 1964 in Winnsboro. She survives. Dannie retired after 40 years as a senior planner for L-3. Dannie was a dedicated servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by serving as a deacon at South Liberty Baptist Church. Dannie was a third generation farmer on his family farm in the Greenview Community. There, he raised registered Angus and commercial cattle along with hay. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife, children and grandchildren. Dannie is survived by his children, Dewayne Garrett and wife Georgia, Mont Belvieu, Tammie Winstead and husband David Paul of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Reese Garrett, Tasha Garrett Jason Garrett and David Wayne Winstead.
