Obituary of Melba V. Elliott

Melba V. Harrison Elliott was born on March 25, 1941 to the parentage of Esther C. Harrison and Nancy B. Williams Harrison. Melba grew up in the East Caney Community and accepted Christ at an early age with the East Caney Baptist Church. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1958 and attended Prarie View A & M College. Melba, later enlisted in the United States Army and after completing a 3year tour of duty, and received an honorable discharge, she made her home in Seattle, Washington Where she has resided for the past 50 years. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church under the pastorage of Dr. C. E. Williams. Melba departed this life, Friday, December 9, 2016. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Makeba Winstead, two granddaughters, Aurianna Monger and Imani Winstead, one sister Carlyn Love, three Aunts, Jimmie Harrison, Reba Mae Jones and Lillian Haynson, nieces and a nephew, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and her parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2016 at East Caney Baptist Church. Interment will follow at East Caney Cemetery with Terry Williams, Kelvin Harrison, Miron Harrison, Danny Hynson, Richard Williams and Daniel Cooper serving as pallbearers.
