Obituary of Gaylon E. Payne

Funeral Services for Gaylon E. Payne, age 81, of Saltillo, will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Friday officiating. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery with Bob King, James Edwards, Billy Gene Davison, Curtis Wall, Justin Wade, and James Payne serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service, from 2:00-3:00 on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Gaylon passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born on February 23, 1935 to Oscar and Tott (Dillon) Payne. He married Lois Caviness June 4, 1954. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2004. He later married Linda Dunlap Edwards on July 26, 2006 in Weaver. She survives. He served in the United States National Guard from 1955 thru 1961. He was a supervisor for Gray Tool Company for many years, and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his wife Linda, survivors include a son, Michael Payne of Weaver, granddaughter Sara Martin of Broken Arrow, OK, nieces, Kathy Wade and husband Virgil of Weaver, Donna Daughtery of Little Elm, and Karen Caviness, nephews, Coy Payne and David Daughtery. Great nephew, Justin Wade and Great Nieces, Hannah Wade and Kristina Wade. Gaylon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alton Payne, Marvin Payne, L.A. Hughes, Buddy Hughes, and Clennon Payne, sister, Bennie Payne. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
