Obituary of Jackson Sloan Hood

Graveside services for Jackson Sloan Hood, age 89, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Gafford Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Lewis officiating. There will be Military Graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Hood passed away on August 8, 2016 at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs. He was born on April 6, 1927 in Tahoka, TX the son of John Hood and Gertrude Sloan Hood. He joined the United States Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 22 years. He married Marjorie Donna Watt on September 21, 1948. She passed away April 24, 1993. He later married Mary Connally and she passed away October 31, 2014. He is survived by a daughter Nonnie Jones and her husband Bill of Sulphur Springs, a son Stephen John Hood and wife Connie of AL, brother Curtis Hood and wife Reba of Longview, sisters, June Morris of Houston, and Donelle Brosseau of IL, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
