Obituary of Ruthie Skaggs

Funeral services for Ruthie Gertrude Skaggs, age 76, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lowell Skaggs officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery with Daniel Skaggs, Eric Marcum, Miles Hutchings, Marc Hutchings, Ronnie Skaggs, John Nabors and James Tolley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Fields. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to services time at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mrs. Skaggs passed away Friday, November 1, 1937 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. Mrs. Skaggs was born on September 14, 2013 in Bledsoe, TX, the daughter of Jesse and Fannie (Lawhon) Norman. She married Claudie Skaggs on November 17, 1955 in Lubbock, TX and he preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Skaggs was a homemaker and worked in Home Health Care. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Mrs. Skaggs was an avid reader, she listened to gospel music along with Elvis and Conway Twitty. She loved to sew and did needle work and crafts. Mrs. Skaggs is survived by two sons, Lowell Skaggs and wife Linda of Sulphur Springs, Joe Skaggs and wife Mindy of Sulphur Springs, daughters, Lovelle Berner of Pickton and Martha Payne of Sulphur Springs, sister, Patricia Bertreaux of Bonham, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
