Obituary of Gene Ray Hyde

Funeral service for Gene Ray Hyde, age 76 of Yantis, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, October 30, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Yantis with Rev. Byron George and Rev. Craig Vance officiating. Military Graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Yantis Cemetery with Doug Wesson, Chris Wallace,Tony Mabe, Clint Miller, Sam Miller and Bill Wallace serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the “Wednesday Night Bunch”. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday,October 29, 2015, at West Oaks Funeral Home. Gene passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at his residence. Gene was born on Feb. 6, 1939 in Yantis, TX, the son of Dennis J. Hyde & Myrtie Coker Hyde. Gene served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 1957 to Dec. 1959 aboard the USS Harry E. Hubbard as a sonar man, after returning from the Navy he married Margaret Stinnett and ran the family dairy. He also worked for the Sulphur Springs Police Dept., for 2 years, and for Copy Products from 1978-1988, a few years for Price Ford and Apex Plumbing Supply from 1990 to 2012. He is survived by his wife Margaret Stinnett Hyde of 55 years and 3 children, Kathleen Bailey and husband Ronald, Leona Cerretani and husband Jim, Dennis Ray Hyde and wife Jacquelyn all of Yantis, 6 grandchildren, Sara Bailey of Duncanville, Matthew Bailey and wife Annie, Daniel and Lucas Cerretani of Yantis, Saffron and Deanna Hyde of Yantis, 2 great-grandchildren James and Brayden Bailey of Yantis, sister, Francine Wesson of Garland, TX, a special niece, Denise Wallace of Yantis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
