Obituary of Sandra Wester
Sandra (Sandi) K. Wester died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. She was born December 12, 1943, in Tira, Texas, the daughter of Leslie and Beulah Smiddy Wester. A memorial service will be held at Tira United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 10, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leroy Reaves officiating. A reception will follow at Tira Community Center.
She was a member of the North Hopkins High School class of 1961 and received her BachelorÂ’s and MasterÂ’s Degrees from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. She was a teacher/coach for 35 years and retired from Corsicana ISD in 1999 and returned to Tira where she built her home and cared for her father until his death.
She was a lifelong member of Tira United Methodist Church, served on the Tira City Council, was secretary of the Tira Volunteer Fire Department, and a board member of the North Hopkins Scholarship Foundation.
She is survived by four sisters, Ina Withrow and husband, Glyn, of Garland, Mary Lou Jeter and husband, Joe, of Temple, Peggy Deaton of Garland, and Linda Andrasko of Henderson, and one brother, Joe Wester and wife, Ruby, of Mesquite. She enjoyed following the activities and accomplishments of her nieces and nephews Thomas Withrow, James Withrow, Susan Rogers, Kay Gentsch, Jan Breed, Dan Deaton, Randy Jeter, Jill Jeter, Kelly Lawrence, and Karyn Lawrence Horne. Survivors also include 15 great-nieces and nephews, two great-great-nieces, and her treasured pets Ellie, Tigger, Thelma, and Louise.
A private family burial will be held.
