Obituary of Mildred Cross
Memorial services for Mildred C. Cross, age 84, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Myra Wilson Chapel with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to service time at the Myra Wilson Chapel. A private graveside services will be at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with grandsons Jordan Cross, Taylor Cross, Cody Castagno, Case Castagno and Brian Phillips serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Nix, Joe France, Bill Bagby and Verdon Graves. Mrs. Cross passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Carriage House Manor. Mrs. Cross was born on March 21, 1929 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of Chuck and Carrie Elizabeth (Haynsworth) McDonald. She married James Cross on December 8, 1949 in Sulphur Springs. He survives. Mrs. Cross was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sulphur Springs. She was a member of the Lena Day Garden Club, Mothers Culture Club, she won Yard of the Year and received the Shannon Carpenter Rural Beautification Award in 1991 from the Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Cross was a homemaker and an avid Texas Ranger fan. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Johnny Cross and wife Diana of Sulphur Springs, Red Cross and wife Carmen of Sulphur Springs, Cathy Castagno and husband Kent of Tyler, grandchildren, Jordan Cross, Taylor Cross, Colbie Cross, Christie Phillips, Cody Castagno, Carlie Castagno and Case Castagno, 5 great-grandchildren.
