Obituary of W. C. Finnie

Funeral services for Willie Charles "W. C." Finnie, age 74, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Cypress Baptist Center with Rev. B. R. Hargest officiating. Military graveside honors will follow at Coffey Cemetery with Gerald Wilkerson, Fredrick Finnie, Nathaniel A. Mingo, Sr., Jerome Dial, Jerald Madkins, Kevin Chennault, Bryant Jackson, and Ken Taylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Traylon Dial, Darian Dial-Hall, Dekeistan Mosley, Chaz Chennault, and Trayvont Dial. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Finnie passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Finnie was born on November 22, 1939 in Como, TX, the son of Sammie Harris and Pauline Finnie. Mr. Finnie was a member of Gallalee Baptist Church in Como and served as a deacon and was Sunday school superintendent. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Service Star. Mr. Finnie is survived by sisters, Peggy Dial, Pauletta Wilkerson, 5 half sisters, 1 half brother and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
