Obituary of Nancy Harrison
Nancy Burella Harrison, born March 9, 1921, the oldest child of Willie Williams and Inez Askew Williams departed this life of 93 years July 14, 2014 at 9:50 am at Washington Care Center in Seattle Washington.
She received her formal education in the East Caney community.
In 1939 she married Esther Carl Harrison of the East Caney community and to this marriage two children were born, Melba Voncel Elliott and Carolyn Needra Lowe of Seattle Washington.
She was employed by Dr. Sam and Mrs. Sammie Swindell where she worked for over twenty years as a domestic engineer.
Her husband preceded her in death on October 30, 1966.
Nancy was a faithful lifelong member of the East Caney Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, always attended Sunday School, and penned the Sunday school song "I've Got the Sunday School Spirit", and was responsible for recommending to the East Caney Church deacons the name of Rev. M. Lavelle Hendricks for Pastor.
An outgoing and caring woman, who loved her God, loved and supported her family, friends, community, and she never met a stranger.
Because of her integrity and strong sense of family she will be remembered by: three grandchildren: Daronda C. Lowe, Mesha N. Campbell and Makeba Winstead and four great grandchildren that she loved dearly all of Seattle Washington. Two sisters: Jimmie Harrison and Reba Mae Jones and one sister-in-law: Lillian Childs all of Sulphur Springs, Texas. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by two siblings: a sister Oliver Willena Odom and brother Ruben Williams.
