Obituary of Terry Hipp

Memorial services for Terry Michael Hipp, 65, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Serving Six Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at West Oaks Funeral Home Sunday, September 1, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Hipp passed away on August 30, 2013, at his residence. He was born December 14, 1946, in Littlefield, Texas to Robert and Helen (Cowart) Hipp. He graduated from Olton High School in 1965. He also graduated from Howard Payne University in 1969 with a chemistry degree and from The University of Texas in Austin in 1975 with a pharmacy degree. Mr. Hipp recently retired from Hopkins County Memorial Hospital as a hospital pharmacist. He was also a retail pharmacist for Wal Mart and BrookshireÂ’s. Prior to being a pharmacist, Mr. Hipp was a High School Science teacher. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Hopkins County Genealogical Society. He married LaVerna Duck on August 24, 1968, in Lubbock, TX. She survives. He is also survived by his children: Teri Meskimen and husband Jason of McKinney, TX, Jamie and wife Jenny of Corinth, TX, grandchildren, Noah, Landry, McKenna, and Hunter Meskimen of McKinney, Jordan, Taylor, and Karis Hipp of Corinth; sister, Karen Hipp of Sulphur Springs; mother and father-in-law Nell and Ray Duck of Sulphur Springs.Brother and sister-in-law Louie and Vicky Duck of Houston; and nieces Catha Jaynes of Houston and Crista Henderson of Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Missions Offerings of First Baptist Church, 116 Oak Ave., Sulphur Springs, TX. 75482.
