Obituary of Ray Julian
Funeral Services for Ray Julian, age 92, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neal Cochran officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 one hour prior to the service. Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Jeremy Herman, Jon-Gregory Watson, Kaleb Wallace, Colten Gregory and Chris Gibbins serving as pallbearers. Mr. Julian passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Julian was born on May 10, 1922 in Sulphur Bluff the son of John Willis and Myrtle (Chester) Julian. He married Norma Gean Brown on June 2, 1946, she preceded him in death on January 3, 1993, he then married Betty Woodard Gregory on December 4, 1994, she survives. Mr. Julian served in the United States Navy during WWII and was assigned to the Merchant Marines in communication aboard cargo and tanker ships in both the European and Pacific Theaters. Mr. Julian worked for Arco Gas & Oil as maintenance supervisor and retired after 33 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by his children, Kenneth Julian of Sulphur Springs, Beverly McCord and husband Keith of Yantis, Mark Gregory of Sulphur Springs, Judd Gregory and wife Stephanie of Princeton, grandchildren, Jeffrey Ray Julian, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, Jeremy Herman and wife Kerry of Sulphur Springs, Scarlett Gibbins and husband Chris of Sulphur Springs, Jon-Gregory Watson of Sulphur Springs, Kaleb Wallace and wife Katie of Reilly Springs, Colten Gregory of Commerce, and Brittney Smith of Sulphur Springs, great-grandchildren, Lexie and Tori Moore, Jace Herman, Mollie Gibbins, Trace Watson, Fisher and Brailey Wallace, Peyton and Kylan Smith, sisters, Nadine Drake of Farmersville, Gay Nell Hopkins of Dallas, Melba Blount of Sulphur Springs, and brother, Hoyle Julian and wife Ann of Klondike. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Jeffrey Ray Julian and Britt Gregory, siblings, Leroy, Maxine, Anita, Dale, Gale and Jay W.
