Obituary of Jerry Kenneth Blount

Memorial service for Jerry Kenneth Blount, 80, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Godwin officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Jerry passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. He was born on August 4, 1933 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Elvis Lee and Ruth Simmons Blount. He served in the United States Army and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He worked as the regional administrator of long term care for the State of Texas Health Department. He married Melba Julian on April 21, 1953 in Sulphur Springs. She survives. Jerry is also survived by sons, Danny Blount and wife Cheryl, Benny Blount, brothers, Jackie Blount, Mike Blount and wife Sandra, grandchildren, Kaley Shaye Blount and Brittan Daniel Blount. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Blount.
