Obituary of Gloria Jean McPherson

Graveside service for Gloria Jean McPherson, 68, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Mt. Sterling Cemetery with Rev. Neil Cockran officiating. Pallbearers will be Harold Ball, Tommy Matthews, Carl Ballard, Kevin McPherson, Kenneth Rogers, and Shane McPherson. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Gloria passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 13, 1946 in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Finis Vesper and Jodean Whitehurst Ballard. She was a member of Posey Baptist Church. She was homemaker and also worked for Morningstar for many years. Gloria married J.C. McPherson on September 14, 1964 in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2003. She is survived by daughter, Debra Smiddy of Sulphur Springs, brothers, Bobby Ballard, Doug Ballard, Larry Ballard, all of Sulphur Springs, sisters, Glenna Ball, Betty Boyd, both of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Justin Smiddy, Joe Smiddy and wife Lakrisha, Chastin Smiddy, Kealey McPherson, Amanda Lesjak, Angel Crouse, Krystal McPherson, great-grandchildren, Jailee and Baby Sister Smiddy. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, son, David McPherson, brother, Mickey Ballard, and sister, Jo Katherine Matthews.
