Obituary of Delbert Davis
Funeral service for Delbert Gene Davis, 79, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at Cross Timber Cowboy Church in Mahoney with Bro. Jason Connor officiating. Military graveside honors will follow at Mahoney Cemetery with Jerry Bell, Randy Hignight, Garry Jordan, Bill Mangram, Tony Murray, and John Parrish serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Jordan and Bro. Kenneth Ishmael. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to service time. Delbert passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Dallas. He was born on December 16, 1934 in Mahoney, the son of Raymond and Edna Maude Dendy Davis. He served in the United States Army for twelve years and later worked as a truck driver. Delbert was a member of Trinity Harvest Church of God. He began his ministry in July of 1969 and retired after forty years. He married Faye Nell George on September 10, 1956 in Sulphur Springs. She survives. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by sons, Ronny Davis and wife Freda of City, Brad Davis and wife Linda of Colorado Springs, daughters, Brenda Land of Mauldin, SC, Vicki Osborn of Andrews, TX, grandchildren, Christopher Gibbons of Grand Prairie, Jeremy Davis of Paris, Jerod Fox of Savannah, GA, Jennifer Empy of Colorado Springs, Terah Sampler of Louisiana, Leslie Davis of Paris, Melissa Breslin of Colorado Springs, Elizabeth Gibbons of Sulphur Springs, Cathy Gibbons of Grand Prairie, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth Davis, great-grandson, Dylan Davis, and sister, Marjie George. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Harvest Church of God building fund at 1150 Shannon Road East, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
