Obituary of Nell Hooten

Funeral services for Nell Dodd Hooten, age 78, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Mahoney Cemetery with Rick Stewart, Nathan Reneau, James Jordan, Cleveland Hooten, Shorty Coleman and Dale Owens serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mrs. Hooten passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hooten was born on November 15, 1934 in the Mahoney Community, the daughter of Oliver C and Helen E. (Holmes) Dodd. She married Delbert Hooten on April 8, 1954 in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2002. Mrs. Hooten worked in the records department at Alliance Bank. Prior to working at the bank, she was employed by Sears and Montgomery Ward. Mrs. Hooten is survived by sons, Joe “Willie” Hooten and wife Lisa of Sulphur Springs,TX, Gerald Hooten and wife Toni of Fulton, MO, daughter Kathy Wilks and husband Billy of Sulphur Springs,TX, brothers, Joe Dodd and wife Barbara of Irving, TX, Jimmy Dodd and wife Vanera of Sulphur Springs,TX, sisters, Pat Clark and husband Eugene of Sulphur Springs,TX, Wanda Hoskins and husband John of Arlington,TX, sister-in-law, Helen Dodd of Lone Oak, TX, grandchildren, Cody Hooten and wife Chanda of Arkadelphia, AR, Gina Giguere and husband Bryan of Winnsboro, TX, Jennifer Anders of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Shawn Large of Winona, TX, Bridget Wilson of Tucson, AZ, and Lisa Darlin and husband Pete of Sulphur Springs, TX, great-grandchildren, Clint Payne, Colt Hooten, Huston Hooten, Hayden Hooten, Baylie Large and Cayden Large.
