Obituary of Henry Grubbs
Funeral services for Rev. Henry E. Grubbs, age 85, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Military graveside honors by the Arden Hanes American Legion Honor Guard will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Veal Switch Cemetery in Hughes Springs with Rev. Ron Dyess officiating and Chris Harmon, Curtis Grubbs, Bradley Harmon, Jason Grubbs, Juston Grubbs, Jacob Grubbs, Billy Cooey and Bryan Cooey serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Grubbs and Calvin Grubbs. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Rev. Grubbs passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Carriage House Manor. Rev. Grubbs was born on February 10, 1927 in Hubbard, TX, the son of Earnest Henry and Minnie Elizabeth (Cottongame) Grubbs. He was married to Billie Gene Carr for 56 years and they married on October 25, 1946 in Dallas, TX, and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2002. Rev. Grubbs was a preacher for many years and retired as pastor from Rockdale Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. Rev. Grubbs served in the United States Army during WWII, he was a member of the American Legion in Hughes Springs, Post 0351. He was a member of New Beginnings Church in Daingerfield. He is survived by his children, Helen Goldsmith of Lone Star, TX, Bobbie Cooey Litton and husband Earl of Cumby, TX, Robert Grubbs and wife Barbara of Sulphur Springs, TX, Calvin Grubbs and wife Theresa of Yantis, TX, Brenda Riley and husband Brandon of Round Rock, TX, and Cindy Modrall and husband Sean of Leander, TX, brothers, David Grubbs and wife Linda and Oscar Grubbs all of Jacksonville, TX, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by children, Jimmy Grubbs and Edith Jean Grubbs, great-granddaughter Jenny Rose, 7 brothers and 4 sisters.
