Obituary of Tommy Barker
Funeral service for Tommy Edward Barker, 76, of Brashear, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Hardage and Rev. Mark Bryant officiating. Military Honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be the FBC Radio Bible Class. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to service at First Baptist Church. Mr. Barker passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at ETMC of Tyler. He was born on July 12, 1936 in Peach Creek , TX, the son of Tom Hill Barker and Ina Mae Allen Barker He married Helen Bryant Barker March 5, 1983 in Van, TX. Mr. Barker was a member of First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University. He was a retired Hopkins County Agriculture Extension Agent, and was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of County Agriculture Agents. Mr. Barker was a Veteran of the National Guard, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by wife, Helen Bryant Barker of Brashear, his children, Rhonda Barker Johnson of McKinney, Danny Wayne Goldsmith and Jeffery Bryant Goldsmith of Point, two sisters, Barbara Snyder of Hurst, and Shirley Perry of Caldwell, three brothers, Daniel Barker of Colmesneil, Raymond “Rip” Barker of Navasota, and Harold “Toby” Barker of Ft. Davis. Numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tommie Elaine “Punkin” Loddy.
