Obituary of Jesse Pompa

Funeral services for Jesse Pompa, 86, of Cumby, TX, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Cary Kinniard officiating and Bill Gauntt assisting. Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Coalition will follow at Sherley Cemetery with grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Pompa passed away May 29, 2013 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX. Mr. Pompa was born August 26, 1926 in Commerce, TX, the son of Damian and Julia Losa Pompa. He married Leatrice Pickett on May 22, 1948 in Rockwall, TX. Mr. Pompa served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was stationed at various posts in the U. S., Okinawa and Japan. He received his post World War II high school diploma in Commerce in 2008. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Leatrice (Pickett) Pompa; son, Danny Pompa and wife Cheryl of Commerce, three daughters, Leah Kanaman and husband Collin of Campbell, Lynn Petty and husband David of Cumby, Julia Burkett and husband Ron of Rowlett, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sabina Martinez and brothers, Miguel and Carmen Pompa. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
