Obituary of Billy Campbell

Funeral services for Billy Joe Campbell, age 82, of Cumby will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pete Adrian, Rev. Debbie Riggsby and Rev. C. J. Duffy officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to service time at First United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Mike Gilmer, T. C. Hamilton, Ken Burtch, Joe Clifton, Paul Bennett and Clyde Browning. Honorary pallbearers will be the Chancel Choir and the Messengers Sunday School Class. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery with full military honors. After six years of struggling with Pulmonary Fibrosis, God healed him on the morning of October 13, 2012 at the age of 82. He was born September 30, 1930 in Bonham to Homer Willis Campbell and Ruth M. Walker. He married Ursula Buettner in Bad Kissingen, Germany on December 4, 1954. She survives. He served 22 years in the Army and was a pilot in both helicopter and fixed wing. He served in Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. After retirement, he sold real estate and worked for 20 years for Germania Insurance as an adjuster. When he retired from that, he worked some for Bobby Price and also Joe Clifton. He was an avid golfer and square dance caller and enjoyed going to the horse races. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Chancel Choir and also a member of the North East Texas Coral Society, which he enjoyed very much. He loved being a Grandpa and spending time with his six grandchildren. He is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Suddarth and her husband Troy of Dallas and son Carl Campbell and wife Virginia of Jacksonville, AR, grandchildren, Nicholas, Andre, Isabella, Giovanna, and Francesca Campbell and Tory Suddarth, brothers, Don, Ray, James and Gary Campbell, sisters, Ruth Ann Thomas and Connie McDonald. Proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Claude and Harold Campbell, baby son Brad Joseph Campbell.
