Obituary of Ruth Newth
Ruth Longino Newth went to be with the angels in Heaven on September 10, 2012. Ruth was born to Dr. Roy Richard Longino and Ruth Ila (Bransford) Longino on July 29, 1913 in Abilene, Texas. Ruth was the eldest grandchild of Dr. Stephen Beasley and Mary Edna Longino (Young) and Ferdinand Pettiway and Nettie May Bransford (Goessman). Ruth's beloved father died during the influenza epidemic in 1918. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, James Francis Newth, parents, great-grandparents and sister Roy Eleanor Webb. Ruth married her sweetheart, James, on November 25, 1933 and had two children, Mary Frances and James Frederick. She lived in Vernon, Texas from 1942 until 1964, Nassau, Corpus and Dallas. Ruth's passion was her family, oil painting, sewing, crafts, and she was active in the Methodist Church, Scouting and Camp Fire Girls. Ruth attended Canyon College, was employed at TWU and retired from Southwest Texas State University. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Glenn (Larry) and son, James Frederick Newth (Jane), grandchildren, Melissa McHargue (Jeff), Elizabeth Russell, Steven Russell (Regina), Christopher Newth (Beth), Jo-Kimberly Sloan (Tim), Stacy Yonas (Andy), Jonathan Borchardt, 14 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, her baby sister, Myra Jane Wilson Close, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Myra Wilson Chapel in City Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, TX with Bro. Reagan McHargue officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Pallbearers will be Christopher Newth, Jonathan Borchardt, Bob Butler, Michael Butler, Matthew Butler and Tim Sloan.
