Obituary of Harry Smith

Graveside services for Harry Wilson Smith, age 83, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Hall and Rev. Andy Comer officiating. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., prior to service time at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Smith passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012, after an extended illness. He was born on March 16, 1929 in Laurel, Jones Co., Mississippi, the son of John Wesley and Mary Richard Smith. He married Margie Mozelle Patton, September 4, 1954. She survives. Harry was retired from Xerox Corp., Dallas, TX and E-Systems, Greenville, TX, as a Quality Control Inspector. He graduated from East Texas State University, Commerce, TX. He was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Other survivors include, a sister, Jessie Ruth Reed of Columbia, SC, one brother, William Haskel Smith of Laurel, MS and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Davis and four brothers, Herman, Grover, John W. and Solly. The family wants to thank the ICU staff and the 3rd floor nursing staff of Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, the Hospice at Memorial staff and especially Arvis Tanton and the wonderful staff of Carriage House Manor.
