Obituary of Clara Stone

Funeral services for Clara Lorene Stone, age 90, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012 with Reverend Charles Ethridge officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery, with Stan Browning, Paul Stone, David Davis, Jarome Arrington, Dallas Browning and Gary Wyatt serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at West Oaks Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday September 7, 2012. Lorene went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the home of her daughter Pat in Winnsboro, Texas. She was born June 27, 1922 in Sulphur Springs, TX, the daughter of William McKinley Groves and Clyde Rust Groves. She married Archie Leon Stone in Sulphur Springs on December 21, 1940. He preceded her in death in 2009. She served alongside her husband as a pastorÂ’s wife for over 50 years. She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Other survivors include: a daughter, Pat Browning and husband Neuman of Winnsboro, a son, Leon Stone and wife Paula of Sulphur Springs, a sister, Joyce Groves Wyatt of Irving, TX. Four grandchildren: Stan Browning, Tonya Davis, Paul Stone and Susan Arrington. Seven great-grandchildren: Dallas Browning, Lauren Browning, Hanna Stone, Lauren Stone, Stone Arrington, Katie Arrington, and Madelyn Arrington. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Groves Girouard and a brother, James Groves and a granddaughter, Christy Ann Browning.
