Obituary of Gerald Devlin

Funeral services for Gerald Lee Devlin, age 82, of Point will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home chapel with Bro. David Meeks officiating and Donny Meeks assisting. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Robert Meeks, Merle Little, Charlie Rowan, Rusty Blasinggame, Luke Meeks and Chad Maddox serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Meeks, Harold Bass and John Meeks. There will be no formal visitation. Mr. Devlin passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his daughter's home in Farmersville. Mr. Devlin was born on October 15, 1930 in Bogata, TX, the son of Charles and Mettie Sue (Parks) Devlin. He married Doris Biggerstaff on September 4, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, TX. She survives. Mr. Devlin served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Devlin was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Garland. He was a hospital sales rep for Abbott Laboratories for 32 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Larry Lee Devlin of Dallas ,one daughter, Brenda Meeks and husband Mike of Farmersville, one sister, Dorothy Marcy, grandchildren, Jake and Kala Meeks and Dana and Lacey Devlin, great-grandchildren, Luke and Laynie Meeks. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Charles Devlin, Bob Devlin, Joe Devlin and Jerry Devlin, four sisters, Elizabeth King, Francis Wilcox, Katherine Witcher and Lucille Welch.
