Obituary of Billy Glenn
Funeral services for Billy “Pop” Glenn, age 83, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Ronnie Irvin, David Waller, Tim Glenn, Tommy Glenn, Chad Glenn and John Glenn serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jace Glenn. Mr. Glenn passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris. Mr. Glenn was born on October 13, 1928 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Robert Lee and See (Johnson) Glenn. He married Ira Kathryne “Ikey” (Parker) Glenn on August 12, 1951 in Sulphur Springs. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2005. Mr. Glenn was a construction engineer for over 60 years. He retired the day he passed away. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs. Mr. Glenn also was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sulphur Springs. He served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean war where he received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. He is survived by his two sons, Lee Glenn, Jim Glenn and wife Lisa, two grandchildren, Jamie Glenn Fried and husband Chris, Jared Glenn and wife Makenzie, great-grandchild, Jace Glenn all of Sulphur Springs, three sisters-in-law, Mert Waller, Charlene Glenn, Christine Glenn and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lowell, Travis, Murray, Joe and Harold, one sister, Nedra Glenn Irvin. Memorials may be made the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
