Obituary of Charles Russell
Funeral services for Charles Glyde Russell, 82, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Spence Chapel at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Robbins and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Cory Russell, Derek Morse, Samuel Turner, Brent Russell, Randy Freel and Rusty Freel serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Levi Sweat, David Sweat, Brad Russell, Brian Russell and Percy Hudson. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to service time at Spence Chapel. Mr. Russell passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 15, 1929 in Duncan, OK, the son of Glyde and Edith (Boyle) Russell. He married Patricia Ann Hudson on April 21, 1972 in Houston, TX. She survives. Mr. Russell was an accountant for Texaco for 32 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, an ordained deacon at Brookland Baptist Church. He coached Pony League baseball that went on to the World Series and came in 2nd place. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rickey Charles Russell and wife Kathleen Smith of Austin, Pamela Gayle Morse and husband Steve of Lexington, TX, and Rhonda Lyn Turner and husband George of Lakeway, TX, brother Gaylon Russell and wife Joyce of Duncan, OK, brothers-in-law, Steven Hudson and wife Ann of Sulphur Springs and Corky Hudson of Terrell, TX, sisters-in-law, Carol Russell of Tulsa, OK and Marion Smart of Haysville, KS, grandchildren, Kimberly Sweat, Cory Russell, Derek Morse, Samuel Turner and Audrey Turner, great-grandchildren, Macy Sweat, Levi Sweat, Kylie Morse, Tanner Morse, Taylor Russell, Addison Russell and Cohen Russell, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Patricia Smart Russell, granddaughter, Lindsey Faye Russell, brother, Jerry Russell, sister Jean Freel, brother-in-law, Charles “Jug” Freel, brother-in-law, Bill Smart.
