Obituary of Ovetra Evans

Graveside services for Ovetra “Teechie” Patterson Evans, age 93, of Cumby will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Ridgeway Cemetery with Rev. Brian McAlister officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Benny Evans, Billy Evans, Rusty Evans, Weston Evans, James W. Evans, Jim Evans, and Cody McCord. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Doss, Bill Pennington, Bryan Pennington, Earnest Upchurch and Randy West. Mrs. Evans passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at her residence and her father, Otha, was killed on January 25, 1955, 57 years to the day. She was born on May 23, 1918 in Ridgeway, the daughter of Otha Leon and Willie Mae (Wilhite) Patterson. She married Harold Ruston Evans on November 16, 1938 in Hugo, OK. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1991. Mrs. Evans was a hairdresser for over 38 years and retired in 1976. She was a member of Ridgeway Church of Christ. She is survived by one son, James L. Evans and wife Jimmie of Cumby, sister, Ann Doss of Ridgeway, grandchildren, Benny W. Evans and wife Elaine of Sulphur Springs, Billy C. Evans and wife Vickie, Rusty Evans, Weston Evans all of Cumby, Kelly Evans of Gainsville, great-grandchildren, Misty Cline and husband Clinton of Sulphur Springs, Cody McCord of Sulphur Springs, Tabatha Wilcox of Sulphur Springs, James W. Evans of Cumby, Jimmy C. Evans of Cumby, great-great grandchildren, Markham Cline, Lainey Thomsion, Harley and Matt Archer, Hannah and Jake Wilcox, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles R. Evans, sister, Eloise Pennington, granddaughter, Marissa Evans Archer.
