Obituary of Thomas Fails

Thomas Ray Fails, 93, of Sulphur Springs, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Carriage House Manor. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Monday, January 23, 2012 in Taylor, TX. Mr. Fails was born on April 4, 1918 in Lee County, TX, the son of William B. and Lillian Abigail (Waggoner) Fails. He married Emily Cadge Dolsen on July 4, 1942 in Taylor, TX. She preceded him in death in October of 2007. He was a member of The Southside church of Christ. Mr. Fails received his Bachelor degree from Texas A&M University and was of the graduating class of 1954. He worked for Sulta Mfg. Co as a mechanical engineer for 13 years. Mr. Fails served in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant for 3 years. He is survived by one son, Harvey Ray Fails of Sulphur Springs, and one daughter, Judith Ann Phillips and husband Ronnie of Kirbyville, TX. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Estell and Florice Fails. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
