Obituary of Billiefae Sellers

Billiefae Vaden Sellers passed away peacefully at the Cottages of Carriage House, Monday evening, June 17, 2013. She was born January 22, 1926 at 605 Houston Street, Sulphur Springs, TX. She was the daughter of French Strother and Mattie Francis Braden Vaden. Both parents were members of pioneer families in the northern part of Hopkins County. Her father died when she was 12. She and her sister, Mary Beth were reared by a strong, kind Mother who wanted the best for her girls. BilliefaeÂ’s maternal grandparents, P.F. and Ella Robertson Braden, lived across the street and helped rear their granddaughters. Billiefae graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1943 during World War II. She became a bookkeeper at City National Bank and there, after the War, met the love of her life, Charles Sellers. He was returning to the bank after serving in World War II. They married on June 15, 1952 at her grandparentsÂ’ home on Houston St, and celebrated their 61st anniversary this past Saturday. She left her job at City National in 1954 to begin her family. This union was blessed with two sons, Tom and John. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Westbrook Concrete and Super Handy Stores, but was always home for her boys after school. Her first love was her family, but she also participated in her community and church. She was a charter member of the Dial Study Club, and later a member of both Jr. and Sr. Waverly. She is a former President of the Lena Day Garden Club and The Friends of the Library. She was an active member of the City Cemetery Society and a member of the DAR. She was a member of The First Christian Church but joined the First United Methodist Church in 1957. Her joys in later life were enjoying her three grandchildren, riding in the country with Charles and having her two sons and their families back in their hometown. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and only eight months ago, her only sibling, Mary Beth Rouse. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Sellers of Sulphur Springs, son Tom and wife Pam of Sulphur Springs, son John and wife Kim, of Sulphur Springs. Three grandchildren; Katy Sellers of Austin, Jacob Sellers of Abilene, and Eli Sellers of Sulphur Springs , several nieces and nephews, and locally by her first cousin, Wilma Brice, and special friends, Jerry Graves, Vera Ann Johnson, and Betty Herman. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday June 21, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, with visitation with family one hour prior, in the Fellowship Hall. Arrangements by West Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will be at City Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are as follows, Andy Rouse, Pete Rouse, Jacob Sellers, Eli Sellers, Norton Hickley, Marvin Wayne Jones, Buck Booker, Mark Horton.
