Obituary of Audrey Pilcher

Graveside services for Audrey Hopkins Pilcher, age 77, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2011 at Union Cemetery with Rev. Pete Adrian and Rev. Debbie Riggsby officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. Pilcher passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at Carriage House Manor. Mrs. Pilcher was born on September 7, 1933 in Nogales, AZ, the daughter of David W. and Vera Margaret (Parker) Hopkins. She married Joe M. Pilcher on March 26, 1960 in Douglas, AZ. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2008. Mrs. Pilcher attended Arizona State University for two years and transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, where she received her diploma and became a Registered Nurse. She loved nursing and was the Director of Nursing Services for Hopkins County Memorial Hospital for many years. Mrs. Pilcher never really retired from nursing; she spent that time volunteering for hospice and caring for her loved ones. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter Myra Watson and husband David of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Megan Watson of Plano, Kate Davis and husband Kiffer of Dallas, Ben Watson of Sulphur Springs, brother, Jim Hopkins of Camp Verde, AZ, sisters, Louise Ruterman of Syracuse, NY, Marilyn Murray of Tucson, AZ, daughters-in-love, Pam Black of Sulphur Springs, Joy Hart of Rockwall and Maleta Reynolds of Sulphur Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Mary Thompson. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 301 Church Street, Sulphur Springs, TX, 75482.
