Obituary of Bobbie Skidmore
Bobbie Loraine Skidmore, affectionately known as Bob Bob to her family completed her life on earth and went to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Carriage House Manor.
She was born on January 27, 1922 in Cooper, Texas, the daughter of Lorene Taylor and Grace Echols Hendrix. She graduated from Cooper High School and married Billy K. Skidmore in Paris, Texas on March 15, 1941. She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Dale Skidmore in 1977 and her husband in 1982. They resided in Kaufman. She moved to Sulphur Springs in 1989 to be close to her brother and family. She became a member of First Baptist Church as well as Sybil McClendonÂ’s Sunday school class, which later became Ann GreggÂ’s class. She was an active member of Community Bible Study for 11 years, where she served as a greeter and passed out hugs and peppermints. She volunteered in the gift shop at Hopkins County Memorial and was awarded a pen in March in recognition of 8000 volunteer hours. She was known to be more attentive to the needs of others than her own and welcomed all with a smile and hug. Bobbie will be remembered by those who knew and loved her for her courage, her generosity and kind heart. Survivors include her nephew Billy Hendrix and Patsy of Flower Mound, niece Marsha Motes and Johnny of Sulphur Springs; great nephew Mark Motes, Jennifer and Ryan of Dallas, great niece Amanda Motes, Alissa and Alex and special friend, Josh Frederick of Sulphur Springs. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Bob Skidmore and Jodi of Sulphur Springs.
Memorial services will be officiated by Rev. Fred Lewis in Spence Chapel at First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Visitation will be one hour preceding the services at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Harold Spoof Cheatham, Al Sutton, Robert Carpenter, Tom Catchings, Jim Tucker and Foy Williams serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class, Volunteers at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital and members of Community Bible Study.
