Obituary of Jean Bolton
Funeral services for Jean Lovelace Bolton, age 71, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at West Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Don Tinsley officiating. Interment will follow at South Liberty Cemetery with Mike Booth, Brandon Crowson, Skipper Hurley, Jeff Massey, Eddie Morton, John Powell, Roy Preuss, and Milton Ragan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bassham, George Bell, Bob Marks, Ed Moore, Tom Soulsby, and J.W. Ragan. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Jean, “MawMaw”, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2011, after a courageous five year battle with cancer. She was born September 14, 1939 in Barksdale Field, Louisiana to Hose Holly Lovelace and Ines Marie White Lovelace. She married Bennie Mack Bolton on January 5, 1983 in Sulphur Springs.
Jean worked over 20 years in various offices for Hopkins County. She was the first female deputy at the Hopkins County SheriffÂ’s Office and the first female machine operator at TXU Mining in Sulphur Springs. Jean enjoyed her retirement years spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her husband and four sons, Truman and wife Deanne Ragan, David and wife Phyllis Ragan and Dooley Ragan all of Sulphur Springs and Lance Ragan of Kansas. Step-daughter Angie and husband Mike Booth of Sulphur Springs and step-son Marlin Bolton of Caddo Mills. Grandchildren are Tanner and Holly Ragan, Colter Ragan, Tye and Josh Boatman, Blake and Chandra Ragan of Sulphur Springs and Ryder and Rhett Ragan of Kansas. Step-grandchildren are Tiffany and Heath Beggs, Macie Murray, Lacy Murray, and Hannah Booth all of Sulphur Springs. Great-grandchildren are Mackenzie and Dylan Ragan, Brady and Fancie Ragan, Reese, Ramsey, and Ryan Ragan, Bayler and Brett Boatman and Adalyn Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Troyce, and son Harold Ragan.
