Obituary of Harold Mayers
Funeral services for Harold William Mayers, age 83, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at West Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Ronald Wills, Kenny Holloway, Thomas Pace, Cole Burnette, Terry Tate, Rickey Henderson, John Russell, Bob Brown, Kevin Mayers, and Jace Mayers serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Mayers passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. Mr. Mayers was born on October 7, 1927 in Columbus, IA, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Winefred) Mayers. He married Trudy Mae Dickens on April 29, 1999 in Sulphur Springs. She survives. Mr. Mayers worked as an assemblyman for Chrysler and retired after 25 years. He owned and operated Brinker Hardware and was a rancher. He was a Mason and served in the United States Army during WWII. Other survivors include his son, Gary Mayers and wife Ruthie of Sulphur Springs, daughter, Denise LaFlamme of Grapevine, step-son, Terry Tate and wife Anne of Miller Grove, step-daughter, Cindy Russell and husband John of Sulphur Springs, sister, Mable Cade of Iowa, grandchildren, Kevin Mayers and wife Rebecca of Florida, Morgan Mayers and Jace Mayers both of Sulphur Springs, Cole Burnett and wife Kim of Miller Grove, Kyle Tate of Brashear, Tammy Stanart and Bridgette Sonneborne both of Corsicana and Kenneth Soverns of Lufkin, great-grandchildren, Cierra and Seth Mayers of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Henry Wayne Mayers, grandson, Terry Mayers, and brother, Henry “Bud” Mayers.
