Obituary of Bill Nixon
Funeral services for William Rex “Bill” Nixon, Jr., 59, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with Jeff Strickland, Tim Vaughn, Danny Wilburn, Kevin Hitt, Eric Hill, Tommy Faulknor, Jim Bayuk, Doug McCraw, Laura Ballard and Cathy Halter serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hopkins County EMS. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Bill passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 8, 1955 in San Angelo, TX, the son of William Rex and Lois Nell (Dickeson) Nixon. He married Jana Robin Prestidge on June 26, 1982 in Greenville, TX. She survives. Bill graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in 1978 from East Texas State University. He worked for Hopkins County EMS, E-Systems for 10 years, Cumby Volunteer Fire Department, and also taught classes at Fire in Texas Fire Academy. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughter, Caitlan Nixon of Sulphur Springs, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Billy and Ann Prestidge of Greenville, sister, Nancy Hooker and husband Rick of San Angelo, TX, sister-in-law, Kristi Boyles and husband Todd of Greenville, nieces, Allison Hooker of The Woodlands, Amanda Hooker of San Angelo, Anne Dymond of San Angelo, nephews, Jason Boyles of Greenville, Justin Boyles of Greenville, great-nephews, John Dymond and Shane Dymond of San Angelo, and Luke Boyles of Greenville.
