Obituary of Bobby C. Burney
Funeral services for Bobby C. Burney, age 79, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Sunday evening, September 1, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. J. Duffy officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Chad Brown, Jake Phillips, Michael Boles, Berkley Burney, Russell Hammons, Payton Hammons and Ryan Hammons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Dodd and Carl Burney. Bobby passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. Bobby was born on May 16, 1940 in Sulphur Springs, the son of William Truitt Burney and Faye Moss Burney. He married Shirley Lovelace on September 23, 1960 in Sulphur Springs. Bobby served in the United States Army and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church. He owned and operated Imperial Window Products for over 25 years. Bobby coached baseball and in 1972 he coached the youth baseball team to the North East Texas Championship. In 1989 he placed second in the amature state bowling tournament and was the top city league bowler for many years. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by his children, Ken Burney and wife Rita of Cumby, Buddy Burney and wife Starla of Ft. Worth, Janet Phillips and husband Mike of Sulphur Springs and Butch Burney and wife Karen of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Carl Wayne Burney, Sharla Shelton and husband James, Blakeli Burney, Berkley Burney, Chad Brown and wife Stephanie, Rachylle Hammons and husband Russell, Jake Phillips, Brandi Boles and husband Michael, Aaron Dodd and wife Megan, Alyssa Burney and Bradyn Burney, great-grandchildren, Tessa Biggs, Tara Tipps, Summer Tipps, Payton Hammons, Ryan Hammons, Laney Hammons, Aubree Hammons, Ben Brown, Bri’elle Brown, Amerson Boles, Avalyn Boles, Casen Dodd, Aizley Dodd and Carter Gandy.
