Obituary of Loyd Cullen Tucker

Funeral services for Loyd Cullen Tucker, age 96, of Cumby, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Moore and Bro. Randy Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Brady Hunt, Hagen Hunt, Lane Hunt, Buff Tucker, Tanner Johns, and Andrew Patton serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., prior to service. Cullen passed away on June 23, 2019 at Hopkins Place Assisted Living in Sulphur Springs, TX. He was born on April 15, 1923, in Hopkins County, the son of Harley Wright Tucker and Eva Lee Reed Tucker. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Dorothy Johnson Tucker on February 9, 1946 in Commerce, TX. She survives. Cullen was a dairyman for many years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a Gideon. In addition to his wife, Cullen is survived by daughters, Betty Hunt and husband Daniel of Cumby, TX, Shirley Hayes of Howe, TX, grandchildren, Robert Johns, Brandy Patton, Brady Hunt, Jeremy Johns, seven great-grandchildren, brother, Glendale Tucker, of Cumby, TX, and sister, Odell Tarpley of Terrell, TX.
