It's truly a sad occasion to learn of Jim's passing. I can only imagine what a void it has left in the lives of his family and friends, especially Peggy.

Peggy and family, so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. The look in his picture reminds of the look when I would get called in for something he did not approve of or when he’d stop by my desk just to mess with me. You didn’t know what you were going to get but most of the time it ended with a smile or at a least smirk from me. As loud as he roared if you were not intimidated by Jim you could discuss things with him and he would listen, but he would still roar at the end, so he would not ruin his image.
Jim will always have a special place in my heart for his kindness when I broke my back. I was out for close to 4 months. Knowing my leave was going to run out before I returned back to the office, Jim called me and told me to stop goofing around while laying on my back, to read and stay on top of the technology we were deploying, to master TCP/IP and his beloved token ring. Each of the last weeks I was to report the hours I had worked. I never missed a pay check and in true Jim fashion he welcomed me back with his roar “it’s about time #!*%$, get to work”, I smiled and thanked him, Jim turned around and grinned as he walked away.

Peggy, it is with a sad, sad heart that I send you my sincere condolences on Jim's passing. While he may have been gruff at times on the outside, on the inside he had a tremendously kind heart. He always treated me with respect and professionalism and was there for me when I needed his assistance at work. I cannot even imagine what you've been through, but I know that you were there for Jim when he needed you the most. I do believe that Jim is no longer in pain and will rest in peace. Take comfort and strength from your family and friends. Lots of love. Take care, Carol

Dear Peggy, I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to you and your family. As I read the obituary and shared with Wade how Jim was sitting in his favorite chair looking out at the lake when he passed, Wade said, "Boy, what a way to go."
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Martha

Jim was an enigma. Tough on the outside, gooey on the inside. He said it the way it always needed to be said.
I sat in many meetings with him early in my career. He told me I could do and go anywhere I wanted to go. When you got something like that from Jim, you knew it was right and it was sincere. Everyone who knew him knew how he loved fishing. He was smart. He was funny. He was sincere. I think all of us who worked with him has something funny and something inspiring to say about Jim. Mostly what I remember Jim telling people at work was....why in the heck did you get a SOC7! Don’t you know how to add, subtract, multiply or divide!
Jim will be greatly missed. Condolences and prayers to Peggy and the rest of the family. ❤️

I have so many great stories of my time with Jim. He taught me to fish, duck hunt and a whole lot about being a man. You have a lot of acquaintances in this world,
but only a handful of friends. James T. Simmons was my friend. I knew I could go months, even years without talking to him, but if I needed something he would be right beside me. God sent me to visit Jim a couple of weeks ago, and I'm so glad he did. I got the opportunity to see me friend one more time before he was called home.

I love the memory of whenever I would ask Cousin Jimmy how he was doing, he would always reply, "I'm fine as frog's hair." It's hard to fathom he is no longer on this earth. My father adored his nephew. They surely must be sipping iced tea in Heaven together with Aunt Alta and Uncle Perry.
