Obituary of Betty Jean Robinson Brown

Graveside services for Betty Jean Robinson Brown, age 85, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, OK with Kip Ackley officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Betty died June 8, 2016 in Sulphur Springs, TX. Mrs. Brown was born October 16, 1930, in Cement OK. She met her husband, Jimmie Dean Brown, in Eureka, KS. They married April 1, 1950 in Yuma, AZ. After Jimmie finished serving in the Navy, he and Betty made their home in Pampa, TX. In addition to being a wife and mother, Betty, at various times, worked in a clothing department store, she was manager of a soda fountain, and worked at a pharmacy. After their retirement, Jimmie and Betty became “snow birds”, traveling to different parts of the country. During their travels, they made many friends and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, sightseeing and taught round dance lessons. Jimmie preceded her in death on September 6, 2008. Betty was also talented at many crafts and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, making jewelry, ceramics, and oil painting. Betty was a Baptist and worked as a Sunday School teacher and in other positions, when needed. Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Stanton and husband, Troy of Yantis, TX, one sister, Joyce Bates and husband, Charles (Smokey) of Fletcher, OK, one grandson, Jimmie Stanton and wife, Constance of Celina, TX, and one great-grandson, Stone Cash Stanton. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Ellamae Robinson of Prague, OK, one brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Brown and wife, Rozella of Ponca City, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her father, O.H. Robinson and her mother, Opal Robinson, and a brother, Edwin Robinson. The family wishes to thank the nurses and aids, at Carriage House Manor, who took the time to get to know Betty and took good care of her. We would like to thank Tena Wright of Sulphur Springs, TX, who was a caregiver to Betty and became a close friend to her and her family.
